Where: Route 5, Bernardston, MA
Our impression: Lee & I went to this restaurant as a 'day trip'. He had the day off, I was on layoff (seasonal) so off we went for lunch. It's almost into VT, so it would take us a couple of hours to get there. The last time we went here was for a car cruise (probably 10 yrs ago).
We got there before the lunch crowd (11:30am), but it was nice to see it was the typical booths with the 'juke box'...and it worked!
We sat in the half that had the counter and booths, but they did have another section that were just tables.
Lee ordered a sirloin burger that looked delicious (he had them add sauteed onions and peppers), coleslaw and Fries (which were cut from the potato, skin and all- delicious!!).
My dinner was a Hot Turkey Sandwich (Lee & I both, had a salad, too) and while the bread wasn't as toasted as I expected, it was delicious! And they served LOTS of turkey under that piece of bread.
And I ordered a homemade blueberry pie. They had made it that morning and the first bite was ...HEAVEN! The crispy flavor of cinnamon and flakiness. Unfortunately, the more I ate it the more I realized they put an awful lot of granulated sugar, which didn't dissolve, so it was a little gritty. But delicious crust and blueberries!
